Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: August 26, 2026
Welcome to Reader Beaver ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Reader Beaver, governing your access to and use of the Reader Beaver website, browser extensions, APIs, conversion engines, and wireless cloud delivery infrastructure (collectively, the "Service").
By registering an account, installing the Reader Beaver browser extension, or accessing any part of the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Service and uninstall our browser extensions.
1. Description of the Service
Reader Beaver provides a digital reading workflow utility and document processing service engineered to optimize digital content for dedicated e-reader hardware and e-ink displays. The Service primarily encompasses:
- Web Article Parsing & Conversion: Extracting, decluttering, and converting web articles, newsletters, and digital publications into reflowable, standard EPUB formats.
- AI Document Reflowing & OCR: Processing, parsing, and restructuring complex, multi-column PDF documents, academic whitepapers, and scanned documents into reflowable EPUB files using machine learning and optical character recognition (OCR) algorithms.
- Wireless Device Delivery & Sync: Transmitting formatted output files wirelessly to supported third-party e-reader devices (including Amazon Kindle, Kobo, reMarkable, and Onyx Boox) or connected personal cloud document storage integrations.
2. User Accounts, Security & Access
To access the core features of the Service, you must create an account via direct registration or authorized Single Sign-On (SSO) providers (such as Google Authentication).
- Eligibility: You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age required in your jurisdiction) to register an account or use the Service.
- Account Security: You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activities, processing tasks, or subscription changes conducted under your account.
- Accuracy of Information: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete registration and billing information.
3. Subscription Plans, Billing & Cancellations
Reader Beaver provides both Consumer and Enterprise subscription tiers billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis:
- Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the conclusion of each billing cycle unless explicitly canceled prior to the renewal date. You authorize Reader Beaver to charge your designated payment method for all applicable fees.
- Usage Caps & Fair Use: Page conversion quotas allocated under tiered plans reset at each billing date. Unused allocations do not roll over. Reader Beaver reserves the right to rate-limit excessive, automated, or abusive pipeline activity.
- Cancellations & Refunds: You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the conclusion of the active paid billing cycle. Except where mandatory under applicable law, all fees are non-refundable.
- Corporate Expensing & Invoices: Users on applicable plans receive itemized receipts and tax invoices suitable for business write-offs or corporate Learning & Development (L&D) reimbursements.
4. Intellectual Property & License to Process
- User Content Ownership: You retain full copyright and ownership of all documents, URLs, articles, and files submitted to or processed through the Service.
- Limited Processing License: You grant Reader Beaver a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, limited license strictly to access, parse, reflow, convert, format, and transmit your submitted content solely for the purpose of executing your requested conversion and device delivery workflows.
- Reader Beaver Proprietary Rights: The Reader Beaver website, browser extensions, parsing engines, proprietary reflowing algorithms, visual designs, and trademarks remain the exclusive property of Reader Beaver and its licensors. You may not decompile, reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute any part of the software.
5. Acceptable Use & Content Compliance
You agree to use Reader Beaver exclusively for lawful personal, academic, or professional workflows. In using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You possess the legal right, license, or explicit user authorization to process, convert, and store any web link, publication, or document submitted.
- You will not use the Service to publish, distribute, resell, or publicly pirate copyrighted literary or proprietary works. The Service is intended for personal reading and legitimate archival workflows.
- If you configure third-party credentials or active browser sessions to parse subscribed content, you hold an active, authorized subscription with that third-party publisher.
- You will not attempt to exploit, scrape, reverse-engineer, inject malware into, or bypass rate limits on Reader Beaver's cloud processing infrastructure.
6. Third-Party Services & Hardware Disclaimers
- Independent Entity: Reader Beaver is an independent software application and is not affiliated, sponsored, authorized, or endorsed by Amazon.com (Kindle), Rakuten (Kobo), reMarkable, Onyx International (Boox), or any media publisher (e.g., The New York Times, Bloomberg, Substack).
- Third-Party Delivery Conduits: The Service relies on external conduits (such as Amazon Send-to-Kindle email gateways, third-party cloud APIs, and browser extension marketplaces). Reader Beaver is not liable for interruptions, deprecations, or policy changes imposed by external hardware manufacturers or cloud platforms.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Reader Beaver does not guarantee that document reflowing, transcription, table conversion, or web page parsing will be 100% error-free or preserve all layout elements across every source document, or that service operation will be uninterrupted or bug-free.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Reader Beaver, its officers, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including loss of data, revenue, or business interruption) arising out of or related to your use of the Service. In all circumstances, Reader Beaver's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to Reader Beaver in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
Reader Beaver reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your account and access to the Service at its sole discretion, without prior notice, in the event of any violation of these Terms, abusive behavior, copyright infringement, or systemic misuse of our conversion pipeline.
10. Modifications & Updates
We may amend these Terms periodically. Any revisions will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of updated Terms constitutes your binding acceptance of the changes.
11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Reader Beaver is established, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith informal negotiations or binding arbitration as permitted by law.
